What this site is
Boat Anatomy is a free reference that explains what the parts of a boat are called, how hulls are shaped and what the measurements on a spec sheet mean. It is general information for learning. It is not professional, legal or safety advice, and it is not a boating-safety course or a buying guide. For your own boat, follow its owner's manual, its capacity plate, the law where you boat, and an approved boating course. The disclaimer says what the drawings, terms and numbers can and cannot tell you.
Accuracy
Every fact on the site is checked against a published source, and the sources are listed on the sources page. Mistakes can still happen. The site is provided as it is, without any promise that it is complete or free of errors. If you find one, please tell me and I will correct it.
Reusing the drawings
The drawings, plates and printable worksheets are free to reuse, including in classes and commercial work, under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licence (CC BY 4.0). Credit Boat Anatomy and link to the page you used. The credits page shows how. The written text is © Boat Anatomy unless a page says otherwise; short quotes with a link back are welcome.
Links and advertising
Pages link to other websites, mostly the sources behind the facts. I do not control those sites and am not responsible for them. The site uses Google Analytics to count visits. The privacy page explains how that works.
Limits of responsibility
As far as the law allows, Boat Anatomy is not responsible for any loss that comes from relying on the site. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under the law where you live.
Changes
These terms may change as the site grows. The date at the top shows the latest version. Questions go to the contact page.
